Answer the following questions but avoid using information that may indicate your age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. Aim to be specific.
- Describe the setting in which your favorite childhood memory took place.
- my favorite memory is taking road trips to visit family in Canada.
- What is a talent or hobby that others typically associate with you?
- my passion for photography
- How do you like to unwind at the end of the day?
- I unwind by doing a nighttime routine and watching TV in bed.
- What is your favorite food?
- my favorite food at the moment is Korean cuisine
- How do you like to dress?
- I typically dress comfortably, mostly in athleisure.
- In what location and during what season/year did your favorite vacation take place?
- my favorite vacation was in summer at the beach.
Potential exposure
- What information have you provided that might “expose” your identities as listed above to GPT-3? What about the information and/or identities causes you to believe this way?
- I believe my answers to three and five may expose my identity. I am not sure if men typically use the words “night time routine” or “athleisure” when describing how they unwind or dress.
- Me living in the USA may also be assumed because of the vacations I mentioned.
- What information have you provided that might “mislead” GPT-3 with respect to your social identities? What about this information might be “misleading,” and why?
- Chat may mistakenly assume I am Korean because of my answer to question 4.
- What other question(s) might we include to improve and/or impair GPT-3’s ability to guess? Explain how the information gathered by these question(s) might change the AI’s output.
- Asking about education/job experience could both help and deter, seeing as though even though there is a traditional path one could take for education, not everyone does. this could also give insight into socio-economic class.
- What questions or prompts might we include to allow GPT-3 to get to know the “real” you? Explain how answers to these might provide a better representation of yourself to GPT-3.
- Asking about cultural background, such as family traditions and languages spoken. If worded correctly this could have Chatgtp correctly guess ethnicity and cultural background. For example I am American, but my ethnicity is Pakistani.
- What aspects of your identity cannot be captured by survey questions?
- perhaps questions pertaining to emotional and mental states and intelligiences.

Reflection
I was surprised at how well ChatGPT was able to guess my identity based on my answers. I felt as though my answers were quite short and not telling. The only question it got wrong was my age, because I’m in my early 20’s. For gender i did not think photography would help it guess. I was also surprised it thought my race and ethnicity was American due to my mention of Korean food. Overall, I’m a little frightened by how well chat guessed my identity with the little information it had.
